King Island's first gin handcrafted by a female distiller with native coastal ingredients - pure King Island innovation

An islander all her life, Heidi is passionate about making mindful, meaningful and meticulous king island spirits.

A collection of King Island and Australian ingredients, all carefully chosen, some of which Heidi harvests by hand.   The key botanicals to make a gin are juniper, coriander, cardamon and cassia bark.

Heidi tried and tested a mix of native botanicals many times, to discover a blend that worked harmoniously together to create the chosen recipe for a classic dry gin bottled at 40% alcohol strength. 

To make a native gin with tonic we use our own rain water, large ice blocks, and we like to try CAPI as our mixer. We like to add just a dash of the tonic with a 30ml serve of native gin to keep the flavour of the handcrafted spirit front and foremost. Capi is Australian owned based in Victoria and their products are readily available and they make a great selection of tonic, soda and mixers to choose from.

Because of her commitment to her vision, willingness to adapt and best of breed custom made stills, Heidi's King Island Distillery is built on a clear purpose and vision to deliver artisan, handcrafted spirits made with the finest, local ingredients.  Creating a collective love and admiration for King Island distillery spirits and products.

Being the founder of King Island distillery, Heidi's personality goes into the all the spirits produced with pride and purpose for a diversified range of people to enjoy. 

Encouraged by mentor Bill Lark, the first ever King Island spirit to be entered into a competition was sent to be judged at the Australian Gin Awards 2020.  It boosted our excitement when president Judith Kennedy announced we won a silver medal award for our King Island Distillery Native Gin.

Making all beverages by hand onsite in her humble distillery operation. Heidi pours in plenty of ♡ in every bottle. We trust that each time the hand made spirit of King Island is opened, it helps bring a smile sharing stories of our lovely Island, friendly passionate people, our prime products and produce. 

In the heart of the main town of King Island the distillery in Currie Heidi delivers a unique tasting experience of the hand made spirits, including the King Island native gin.

Visitors to the island are welcome to visit the local distillery, to taste of all Heidi’s spirits made with love for a diversified range of people to enjoy at the King Island distillery cellar door.  Purchases of King Island distillery products directly from Heidi or ordered online are posted to everywhere in Australia.
