King Island Distillery Wins Grant For Growth and Innovation

King Island Distillery Awarded a Grant for Growth and Innovation

King Island Distillery Cheers to a Tasmanian Government Grant! (As Featured in the King Island Courier 13.2.25)

To my fellow GIN, spirits, cocktails and liqueur lovers! I'm so GINcited to share some GINtastic news-as featured in the King Island Courier - King Island Distillery has been awarded a wonderful $6,823.95 grant through the Tasmanian Government's Enabling Small Business Grant Program! This incredible opportunity will allow us to enhance our local small business and continue crafting top-quality spirits, cocktails and liqueurs for you all to sip on and smile.  A huge, heartfelt thank you to the State Government for approving our application - it means the world to our micro Australian award winning manufacturing distillery!

The Tasmanian Government's $1 million ‘Enabling Small Business Grant’ program was incredibly popular, with applications processed in a lightning-fast 24 hours! This GINcredible program supports small businesses across Tasmania and we're so GINourmously grateful to be among the recipients.  Our grant will fund some exciting technology improvements at Happy Heidi’s 100% locally owned and operated distillery, ensuring we keep creating our local artisan products.  We contributed our own 30% cash contribution to show our commitment and we are GINcited with the results! This includes new technology, small-scale manufacturing equipment and upgraded operating system.

This GINvestment is a game-changer for the Island’s Distillery! Since Heidi Weitjens company King Island Distillery Pty Ltd operation commenced over a decade ago in October 2014 these technology upgrades will streamline production, boost efficiency and ultimately deliver an even more exceptional products like King Island Native GIN to our cherished customers. It showcases our commitment to sustainable growth and handcrafting genuine spirits here on our GINspirational King Island.

A massive thank you goes to Principal Computers in Hobart. Their professionalism and outstanding customer service made the whole process GINcredibly smooth and enjoyable. Happy Heidi the sole owner of King Island Distillery is truly grateful for their expertise!

Heidi Weitjens also expresses sincere gratitude for the support from the Small Business Month workshop run by Business Tasmania - Kelly Brown and Braddon Business Centre - Warren Moore. They were helpful in giving us an understanding about the grant application and I highly recommend their all round expertise and knowledge to other small businesses.

"We visited the King Island Distillery on a recent trip to the island and had a wonderful time. Heidi was a delightful host with a real depth of knowledge, humour and experience distilling spirits. We had generous tastings of the range of drinks, and our order was shipped back to Melbourne promptly and trouble-free. We would highly recommend a visit.” Graeme Cross - 1 Google review • 0 photos

"Surprise Packet
What a fun experience and unexpected gem of King Island the distillery is. Whilst not being avid gin drinkers, from the moment our group entered the venue Heidi's love for the craft was on show for all. A very informative visit, from the barrel construction and wood preparation to suit the hosts personal taste, right through to the dried fruit additions to round out the surprising variance in flavours. This is a must visit for any king island trip. Heidi's infectious zest for all that she does, including the odd snake wrangle, will no doubt have you expecting a delivery home soon of more than one of the many gin and spirits flavours, the coffee Martini is to die for and be sure to ask for cream, or if you're lucky, condensed milk. Thank you Heidi, our group had a fantastic time." Mark P - Echuca, Australia - 2 contributions
