King Island Distillery is the journey of a local woman, in her 30s, who is all about sharing the love of her home island and its pure distilled spirit, boldly establishing the tenth legal Tasmanian distillery on King Island in 2014.
This Australian distillery stands out as one of the world's few; founded, owned and operated by a Native female, Heidi Weitjens (or rather Happy Heidi).
Pioneering the King Island gin made with hand-foraged native beach botanicals that taste of the wild salt kissed roaring forties, is distilled in 30 bottle batches by Happy Heidi’s Copper Angels - a pair of custom-designed 55L pot stills that were expertly handcrafted for her in Hobart, Tasmania.
A signature range of artisanal spirits, liqueurs and cocktails, each handcrafted and bottled with its own authenticity, original recipe, fun story and flavour from inside the island's Manuka honey farm shed.
